Long-Term Substitute Teacher (August-December 2024)

Rossman School is searching for an experienced educator to serve as a
Long-Term Substitute for the first semester of the 2024-2025 academic year.
As a valued member of the faculty, the Long-Term Substitute assumes
instructional responsibilities for elementary grade levels and specialist
classes. By building strong relationships with colleagues and students, the
Long-Term Substitute is able to provide a seamless transition during the
teacher’s absence. Responsibilities include working with small groups of
students, co-teaching lessons, assessing student work, preparing materials,
and planning with co-teachers.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a degree in education and
experience working with elementary-age children. This individual will
demonstrate a dedication to honesty, kindness, respect, and responsibility –
the pillars of Rossman’s character program – in his/her interactions with
children and adults. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and
communication skills, allowing him/her to balance multiple roles.
Experience in an independent school is not required. Salary and benefits will
be commensurate with other area independent schools and an applicant's
experience.

Rossman School is seeking an experienced School Counselor to join our team of committed faculty and staff. The part-time school counselor works closely with students, teachers, learning specialists, administrators, school nurse, and parents to understand and meet the needs of all of our learners.

Duties & Responsibilities of the School Counselor:

●      Promotes the social, emotional, and behavioral well-being of students from Junior Kindergarten through grade 6, and intervenes to support a student’s or class’s social-emotional challenges.

●      Provides direct services to students, including individual counseling, small group counseling, and larger group/classroom education.

●      Remains accessible to students and makes an effort to know every student.

●      Communicates, coordinates, and collaborates with health and educational specialists to develop and implement student educational, social-emotional and behaviorial supports.

●      Act as a resource for school leaders, faculty, and parents regarding current research on social-emotional development and mental health.

●      Functions as a part of the Learning Effectiveness Team along with Rossman’s School Psychologist/Learning Consultant, Learning Coordinator and Academic Directors.

●      Develop programing for students, faculty, and parents on social-emotional development, parenting and care-giving, family issues, and mental health topics.

●      Builds trusting relationships within the school community that support the school’s mission and values.

Qualifications & Skills:

●      Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work.

●      Minimum of 2 years of counseling experience focused on the developmental needs of elementary age children.

●      Appropriate and current state and clinical licensure.

●      Well-rounded knowledge of best practices in school counseling and health privacy acts.

This part-time School Counselor role is a 10-month position. Specific hours are to be determined. Salary range is commensurate with education, licensure, and experience.
