The Beginning - 1917 to 1920’s

Rossman School first opened its doors in the fall of 1917. It was the joint venture of two teachers, Mary B. Rossman and Helen Schwaner, whose stated aim was to provide basic elementary education for boys and girls in the city of Saint Louis, Missouri.

Facing Adversity - 1930’s to 1950’s

The Great Depression was a difficult time for America, and Rossman School suffered from its effect. Miss Rossman and Miss Schwaner bravely took it upon themselves to keep Rossman School alive through tough financial times.

The Relocation - 1960’s to 1970’s

Once the reorganization as a not-for-profit corporation was completed, the next item of business was the pressing problem of relocation. It was a two-pronged problem: a suitable location must be found and the money must be raised to pay for the school.

Hard work and generosity bring comprehensive renovations to Rossman School’s classrooms and campus. Making a great place, a better place.
